Check out Your Laptop Battery Capacity

The laptop battery pack is made of outer shell, circuit board and battery cells. Now most of laptop battery cells are lithium-ion cells, and MAH indicates the capacity of laptop battery. The standby time of a laptop battery is mainly decided by MAH. In general case, the higher the number of battery cells, the bigger numerical value of MAH and the longer standby time. The battery life is decided by charge and discharge times. A qualified laptop battery is durable and rechargeable about 500-600 times before needing to be replaced. So a laptop battery normally has a 2-year service life. When the time comes to the replacement, your battery’s standby time will decrease dramatically, and this impacts the portability of your notebook computer.

If you can choose a high-capacity battery for your laptop, then you can always enjoy longer standby time before it needs to be replaced. How to check out the capacity of your laptop battery? Why a 4-cell laptop battery has a different specification of 14.8V/2200mAh or 7.4V/4400mAh? Now you can calculate the ‘real’ capacity of a battery pack with the below way.

Regularly, one laptop battery cell has a voltage of 3.7V and amperage of 2200MA. Physics has a formula, W(The Watt)=V(Voltage)×A(Amperage). MWH means your battery pack’s amount of amperage of output current in an hour.

So you can calculate one battery cell has a capacity of 3.7V×2200mAh=8.14mWh.
A 3-cell battery pack has a capacity of 8.14mWh×3=24.42mWh;
A 4-cell battery pack has a capacity of 8.14mWh×4=32.56mWh;
A 6-cell battery pack has a capacity of 8.14 mWh×6=48.84mWh;
A 9-cell battery pack has a capacity of 8.14 mWh×9=73.26mWh.

MWH can indicate a more accurate battery capacity than MAH. Calculate your desired laptop battery before the purchase.
