Choose The Right Long Lasting Batteries for Different Laptops

Whether you want to buy a high capacity Gateway W35052LB-SP Battery for your Gateway laptop or a Dell Inspiron KD476 Battery for Dell laptop, you need to choose the right long lasting battery for the right laptop.

The laptop that aced in tests at runtime is, as expected, a netbook. The leader of the pack in the 10 inch size range is by far the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 which can run for 7 and a half hours and comes with a 6 cell Li-ion battery. It also offers an Intel Atom 1.66 GHz CPU, 160 GB HDD, 1 GB RAM and neat design. It is instantly followed by the MSI Wind U160 that can keep going for 7 hours and 15 minutes and comes with the same Intel Atom CPU, 1 GB RAM, but offers better storage capacity then the Dell, having a 250 GB hard drive. It also has a 6 cell Li-ion battery installed.

In the 13 inch size range we noticed that the Apple Macbook has the longest runtime reaching 6 hours and a half. It has a built-in 63.5 W Li-Po battery, an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz CPU, 250 GB HDD and 2 GB RAM. The second in line is the Toshiba Satellite T135D-S1324 that kicks for 6 hours straight. It’s shipped with a 6 cell 5600 mAh Li-ion battery, AMD Turion Neo X2 1.6 GHz CPU, 4 GB Ram and 250 GB storage.

A good 14 inch choice is represented by the HP Pavilion dv4-2165dx which runs for 5.5 hours, with a 12 cell Li-ion battery, an Intel Core i3 I3-330M 2.13 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB storage capacity.

As a 15 inch notebook the Apple MacBook Pro has the longest autonomy with almost 6 hours runtime, powered by a built-in 77.5 W Li-Po battery, Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz CPU, 500 GB HDD and 4 GB memory. Successor is the 15.6 inch Gateway EC5809u staying lit for 5.7 hours, with a Li-ion battery, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.3 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive.

Concerning the desktop replacement class we found to be a valuable choice the 16 inch Toshiba Satellite A505-S6025, the 17 inch Asus K60IJ-RBLX05 and the fairly sized 18 inch HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx. They all have a word to say in the longrun, leaving us surprised because of their size and bigger energy requirements.

The Toshiba Satellite A505-S6025 is pushed by its 12 cell 9000 mAh Li-ion battery for almost 4 and a half hours, having an Intel Core i3 330M 2.13 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. The 17 inches Asus K60IJ-RBLX05 is not doing bad itself, its 6 cell Li-ion battery can power this laptop for up to 3 and a half hours, having a Intel Pentium T4300  2.1 GHz CPU, 4 GB Ram and 320 GB storage.

Last and largest of all three is the HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx which is powered by its 8 cell Li-ion battery for up to 3 hours which is remarkable giving its size and thus its power consumption. It has an AMD Turion II Ultra mobile processor M620 2.5 GHz CPU, 500 GB hard drive and 4 GB RAM.

Overall, in buying a laptop, the laptop battery is not the only factor of choice, but it is an important one that has to be taken in balance with performance, features, design, accessibility and reliability.
